Garnier Whole Blend Green Apple and Green Tea

Garnier Whole Blend Green Apple and Green Tea

The Garnier Whole Blend Green Apple and Green Tea Shampoo and Conditioner* have got to be one of these most photogenic press packages I've received. The greenness of the bottle mixed with the PR boxes graphics and booklets were so A+. Kudos to the Garnier graphics team on this one. But more importantly, aesthetics aside, this hair set has been nice for my locks too!

The Garnier Whole Blend Green Apple and Green Tea Shampoo and Conditioner* ($6 for 370ml, $9 for 650ml) is made with farm harvested green apple and chinese green tea extracts. It is supposed to invigorate and achieve refreshingly clean, energized hair boosted with natural shine.

I'm actually quite pleased with the Whole Blend Promise. The entire line is paraben-free, uses "proven natural blends" and has gentle and effective sulfates (I guess they couldn't get away from sulfates completely and so are branding the ones they do have as 'gentle'). In addition, ingredients are sourced to help improve communities who produce argan, honey and cocoa.

There is an environmental stance with this line. Bottles are made with 30% post-consumer recycled waste and are recyclable. Garnier has committed to reducing its waste and water consumption per unit by approx 58% and has hit 47% since 2005. I really like to see companies make more of these public commitments (and commit to things that actually are a hard, but realistic to achieve and give reports on how they are doing.)

Sometimes I can't tell if a product is working but when I get unsolicited compliments on the exact aspect that a product is supposed to deliver, that says something. This is supposed to make your hair shinier. My mom said my hair looked shiny. Twice. BAM! Results. And even if not for that, this shampoo gives a great clean without stripping. The conditioner isn't heavy and its been a nice experience in the shower.
