Clarins Aquatic Treasures for Summer 2015*

Clarins is channelling a mysterious aquatic nymph in their summer collection and I'm getting cozy with the idea of greens and golds for everything. It also really helped that my friend kept complimenting the green shadow shade when I wore it to brunch.

The launch includes the Clarin's Truly Waterproof Mascara in Aquatic Green* (limited edition, $27CDN, 7ml)* which was easier to wear than expected. Against the green and gold shadows, the green mascara looked dark enough to pass as a natural color while still looking green. The formula was lengthening, didn't smudge and gave me some volume.

I really enjoy the Ombre Matte's that I tried last spring and the Ombre Iridescents* (LE, $24CDN, 7g) are great as well. Smoothing and blending Aquatic Rose and Aquatic Green onto my lids was very easy and the pigmentation is quite strong.

The Clarins Instant Light in 05 Golden Caramel/Bronze* ($37CDN) ( it says Golden Bronze on the tube but Golden Caramel online and in my press info book) was darker than my current skin shade but when blended, I didn't look orange or darkened. I used it on the perimeter of my face and on top of my cheek bones. I applied it under foundation and powder since I was going out and didn't want to risk looking orange. My friend didn't make any remarks on the color so I'd call initial tests successful but I'd hesitate to use this shade all over my face until I get a bit darker in the summer (which I do everything to avoid). I like the idea of using this under my foundation to add a bit of bronze.

The Clarins Waterproof Eye Pencil in Aquatic Green* (LE, $26CDN, 1.3g) applied smoothly, wore throughout the day and didn't smudge. I used it on my lower lash line.

My favorites have got to be the Ombres, but you all know my addiction with eyeshadows already. If you're afraid of powder bronzers but would like to try subtly bronzing under your foundation/powder, you may want to consider some of the bronze/darker shades of the Instant Light Radiance Boosting Complexion Bases. I have used the one in Champagne religiously in the past. The consistency is light and it just works so well with a bit of powder over top and nothing else.
