When searching for perfect eyeliners, most people would want something 'creamy' but there must be a continuum for how creamy a product can be and I think I've found one that's almost too creamy.
Mary Kay Eyeliners* come in Black, Steely, Deep Brown ($16CDN, 0.28g) and give a long wearing glide, are waterproof and are supposed to stay in place. When I first applied them, I was going to categorize them as a "surprise hit". These are insanely creamy and very pigmented. The black is pitch black and they glide on as if you were skating on ice. But, as some of you lesser Olympic ice skaters might know, gliding on ice can have its faults.
The tip wears down right away and very quickly as you use these. There is no sharpener and the creaminess combined with the dull edge results in fat imprecisely lined eyes. I try to rotate the pencil as I use it but that's a nuisance and the product would be greatly improved if a sharpening mechanism was incorporated.
The waterproof claim is very accurate but these smudge on me 100% of the time. The creaminess doesn't allow the product to set quickly and even if the liner is good for a few hours, the next few hours might reveal some dark smudge lines on your lower eye lids.
I wanted to like these. Again, the pigmentation is just spot on and the glide is really impressive but the creaminess of the formula is both a boon and a burden. I really wish these had performed a bit better.
