This Spring, Clarins is envisioning bucolic garden strolls. Though not quite in that vein, this is bringing to mind images of white linen dresses with straw-hats, thistle brambles and moorland gambols surrounded by sheep. Or, if that's not your game, rugged hiking boots, braided hair and chunky knit wool sweaters. Wait, we're talking Spring, make that micro-fleece and a good windbreaker. How ever you like your garden stroll served up, the shades of pink and green that Clarins is forecasting for the eyes this season won't slow you down.

The Garden Escape 6 Color Eye Palette* ($44CDN) contains 6 colors in a long lasting silky mineral textured formula. It can be used dry or damp, and has satin shades of taupe, green, and pink with an iridescent white. In the package is a little card showing two look options.

I have yet to pair green and pink together. Though I do like a few garden walks now and then, I like my foliage on the ground and not on my eyelids but as is sometimes the case, I stood corrected when I tried the top suggested look.

Somehow the pairing works and I don't look like there's flower petals and stems on my lids. Sometimes, you've just got to step outside your box and into the garden, apparently.

These were swatched without primer and the colors come out quite well with more intensity when damp. The shadows feel stiff in the pan but they blend and sit on the lid quite well. Overall, an unexpectedly pleasant color combination.

Of course you needn't pair the green and pink together at all. With the inclusion of the taupe, either green or pink can be used on its own for whatever garden inspired looks you can imagine.

What's your garden escape?
