Necessary Blogging Tools

*Press Sample

You may or may not realize but beauty blogging comes with its own set of necessary tools. One solid day of swatch and product photos can't be done without some makeup removers on hand. For removing face makeup, I rely heavily on makeup wipes but for repeated arm swatching, the Marcelle 3-in-1 Micellar Solution* has been a boon.

The Marcelle 3 in 1 Micellar Solution* ($20, 300ml) is supposed to cleanse, remove makeup and soothe the skin. Good for the face and eyes, it's paraben, oil, and alcohol free. The solution makes quick work of makeup removal but I found it didn't work as well on waterproof products. Previously discovering that the Bioderma version (often touted as 'removing everything', lies) didn't quite work on waterproof makeup, I didn't expect Marcelle to be much different. For my eyes and face, that's a no go, but for my arm, well...I don't mind the rubbing if I have to and the aloe and cucumber extract hasn't left my skin raw or dry. Often I don't need to and lipstick and eyeshadows come off easily. I'm also glad that I'm not adding more makeup wipes into landfills than I need to and can use a cloth with the Micellar Solution.

The bottle, along with the Gino McCray Brush Bath cleanser, has been sitting on my desk for a few weeks now. One spot cleans my brushes as I work through full face looks, or my eyes in the morning and the other cleanses my arms as I shoot swatches. The pump top on the Micellar water makes access, without waste, easy and the spray bottle on the Brush Bath is equally effective. Though not the best brush cleanser, I'm trying to make my way through the bottle. It does the job for every day instant spot cleaning and saves me from having to wash my eye brushes so often but doesn't work on foundation caked face brushes. Having these at the ready have been super helpful for my blogging activities and I'm wondering why I haven't bothered to have such items on my desk before 'cause running to and from the washroom gets annoying really fast.

What are some of your necessary blogging tools?

Daily Zen: B/c I'm awful at small talk....this article on how to perfect small talk gives some good pointers. I'm still super awkward at blogger events though and yes, I will forget that your name and that I've met you. I'm so sorry.
