The Hello Kitty Pop-Up Party Eyeshadow Palette* prompted me to consider the type of party Hello Kitty would have. At the very least, those attending would be party ready with these shades where nothing is too dark and nothing too smokey. Hello Kitty is a young impressionable youth and we can't have the usual b*tches, h*es, and foam jets at her shindig, so leave those back-room snogging eyes for next week at the club, ladies.

Hello Kitty is also likely too busy (and famous) to party plan and since she's a perma-fourth (or was it third?) grader, she would be hard pressed to find any bank willing to give her a credit card and any employer shitty enough to hire someone from elementary school to help pay for this which means that the real party planning is once again left to the adults.

I've decided that the party would have lots of balloons. You can't possibly have too many. There will be a balloon ceiling which drops all the balloons at the most crucial and high point of the festivities to an amazing show of light and sound. It will be like Disneyland only less trademarked and more affordable.

For entertainment, some sort of woodland adventure would be necessary. Aren't youthful cartoon characters always going on some sort of woodland adventure? I wouldn't know, its been a while since I've been 2D and coloured in but a romp through the woods seems like a good idea. We should avoid bows and arrows though, as some of her friends are woodland animals who might be mistaken for prey. Death at a party is a MAJOR DOWNER. Childhood deaths are even worse.

This would of course all be done to a solid 1970s soundtrack of The Beach Boys though I can't quite decide if songs like Little Surfer Girls are age appropriate...but I'm pretty sure Led Zepplin and Kiss aren't quite right either.

From the palette's pop-up cover, my deductive abilities conclude that chocolate, cake, apples and milk will be necessary. Lots of milk. If I didn't actually mind the clean up, there would have been cows.

As guests leave, they will be gifted some antique 1974 paraphernalia like Post-It Notes, Connect Four or Magni-Doodle. Probably only Post-It Notes since I'm expecting a big turn out and balloon drops don't pay for themselves. We've got to skimp somewhere on the budget.

So yes, that's my HK party conception. At the end of the evening, if not one child has cried, I think we can can say it was #winning.
---------------

Anyways,

Actual thoughts on the palette:
This box of 20 neutral and bright shades retails for $62 Canadian and can be found at Sephora.

- Since I don't tend to do colorful looks often, there weren't enough brown neutral here to satisfy me. I didn't find many all over lid shade options that I liked.

- All swatch well over primer but some perform less well on the lids, especially the more sparkly colors. They weren't really creamy in general.

- I'm not bowled over overall, but there are some shades that were quite nice like Friendship, The Original, and Bow, but these are few in comparison to the total number of colors you get.

- The pull out drawer is annoying and the packaging is not my favorite for functionality. This is really a collector/showcase piece.
