Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge and Silicone Liner Brush review

In general, the Real Techniques brand has produced some stellar brushes at affordable prices. In fact, I love my Expert Face Brush so much I bought another just because I didn't want to go without one between washes. I'm often curious to see what other options this brand will come out with.

Real Techniques Silicone Liner Brush
As a pretty solid user of my MAC Blacktrack, finding the right eyeliner brush is always on my mind. I use the MAC 266 which has been the only thing I've trusted so far. RT's Silicone Liner Brush looked promising. The Silicone Liner Brush ($8.99CDN) is advertised as a great tool for precision. Use this with your cream or gel liners will give tug free liner application. In addition, the silicone tip is easy to clean.

I'm not a fan of this. Though the tip is solid enough to draw a straight line, it doesn't have hairs to pick up product. You have to scoop your product out and sort of spackle it evenly onto your lid by pushing the tip around the product on your lash line. This method is a bit of a pain, especially when I'm so adept with the 266 already. If your liner product doesn't set right away, the brush pushes product away too which was sort of annoying. Not a fan unfortunately.

 Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge
Hearing so much about the beauty blender made me curious about make up sponges. I haven't really tried any out and wasn't sure what to expect. This product ($9.99CDN) provides all the potential surfaces you could possibly need to apply your foundation, something even the beauty blender doesn't have. It has rounded sides to blend large areas, a precision tip to cover blemishes, and a flat edge for eye and nose areas.

I'm enjoying this a lot more than I thought I would and sort of understand the hype around beauty sponges. Mostly I use the flat side to apply foundation all over my face. The tip is actually great for getting into the crooks where your nose meets the rest of your face (....yes...). The product doesn't absorb too much foundation and it doesn't leave any streak marks. The finish is seamless and even. Pretty good in my opinion!

What do you think of makeup sponges? Whats your favorite liner brush?
